Nothin’ lasts forever, of that I’m sure…
Thankfully, though, thanks to some foresight to scan many of my childhood and family photos, I still have these memories semi-forever on the “cyberspace”, despite the originals being stolen out of my car (see previous entry).
Pretending to take a phone call
Our family had just moved to Austin, Texas
My first Olan Mills portrait sesh
The first of countless visits to the Olan Mills portrait studios
Playing with my mother's blowdryer on Christmas morning
The Tang moustache is a look I would retain my entire life. PS: great use of lowercase Helvetica for the "son of a gun" logo.
"Graduating" preschool
At the very trendily named day care center called "Kidz Komputing"
Lonely birthday
We moved to Virginia for one year in 1988, but that wasn't why I had no friends at my birthday - it was usually always like that.
Olan Mills portrait with my mom
A friend once saw this picture and said that my mother looked like a "Romulan working mother", which is pretty much spot on.
Graduating Kindergarten
Notice the Apple II computers in the background.
Pretending to play the drums
My mom's boyfriend at the time was a drummer in a heavy metal band.
Family reunion in Oklahoma
I think this picture with my cousins in Oklahoma pretty much says it all about my future gayness.
Times Square, 1992
In '92. Times Square was safe enough for grandparents to take their grandchilren I suppose...
At the observation deck of the Empire State Building
1992 in New York City
A school photo in 3rd grade
My mom would uusally never let me wear a t-shirt on school portrait day, but she was fine with it if it was a University of Texas Longhorns shirt.
The people who attended my birthday
My mom's best friends (left, Sherri), my mother in the middle, my mother's friend and my babysitter (Laura), and Marcus (my mom's office manager's son). I'm the one taking the photo.
5th grade with my mom
My mother was very sunburnt.
5th grade portrait
That shirt is very much typical of the times. I look a bit like Ryan Reynolds in the Canadian teen soap opera "Fifteen"(on Nickelodeoon), or "Hillside" if you watched it on TVOntario.
I got the "Caesar" haircut
7th grade band concert attire. Same picture of me as the birthday photo above.
Playing Mario Paint alone
My middle school years in a nutshell. (Notice the poster on my wall for the Rover Sterling!)
The most Canadian photo ever
In Victoria, BC, in front of the British Columbia parliament building, wearing a Canada logo t-shirt, and carrying a shopping bag from Eaton's (a defunct Canadian department store chain)
Wearing a Starfleet Academy ringer tee
I thought I was sooo cool. This is near Soap Lake in Eastern Washington state.
